KANSAS CITY, Missouri – October 18, 2024 – Employees from GMS’ Kansas City office volunteered their time at ScrapsKC, a local nonprofit organization dedicated to repurposing materials for educational use. Our dedicated team spent the day sorting through a variety of donations that will be given to teachers in need. These donations included folders, pens, art supplies, puzzles, games, and more. By organizing these materials, ScrapsKC aims to support educators and provide them with the resources they need to inspire and engage their students.
About ScrapsKC
Kansas City is home to a vibrant community dedicated to sustainability and creative reuse. ScrapsKC, a non-profit creative reuse center, plays a pivotal role in this mission by diverting materials from landfills and transforming them into valuable resources for education and art. Each year, volunteers and supporters join ScrapsKC to repurpose donated goods, providing cost-effective supplies for schools, artists, and community projects.
This year, the community came together to repurpose thousands of pounds of materials, reducing waste and fostering creativity. Whether you’re an artist, educator, or simply passionate about sustainability, you can contribute to the mission by donating materials, volunteering your time, or participating in workshops and events.
Even if you’re not in Kansas City, you can support their efforts by donating to ScrapsKC and helping them continue to make a positive impact on the environment and the community.
