GMS Cares Volunteers Refresh Classrooms for Kansas City Teachers
KANSAS CITY, MO – August 13, 2026 — Employees from GMS’ Kansas City office recently volunteered at Refresh a Classroom, a community service event hosted by Women United and presented by Burns & McDonnell. The event helps local teachers prepare their classrooms ahead of the new school year, creating welcoming learning environments for students across the Kansas City area.
United Way of Greater Kansas City works to improve lives across the region by bringing together donors, volunteers, businesses, and community organizations to address local needs. Through initiatives focused on education, financial stability, health, and community support, United Way helps create opportunities for individuals and families to thrive. Women United, a United Way donor network, supports early childhood development through philanthropy, volunteerism, and community engagement.
During the event, volunteers assisted with a variety of classroom preparation tasks, including hanging bulletin board materials, cleaning classrooms, organizing supplies, and helping teachers get ready to welcome students back to school. By lending a hand before the first day of classes, the team helped educators support student success.
